What it isSukiyaki is a hot pot of thinly sliced beef cooked with vegetables in a soy-based broth. Ours uses beef chuck roll with napa cabbage and mushrooms, fully cooked in our kitchen with a touch of perilla oil.
What it tastes likeSavory soy broth soaked into tender beef, soft cabbage, and mushrooms, with a nutty note from perilla oil. Not spicy at all.
How Koreans enjoy itSukiyaki comes from Japan, where families cook thin slices of beef with vegetables in a shallow pot at the table. It is a familiar favorite in Korea as well.
